What are the first signs of spring that tell you winter is truly coming to an end?

For me it’s when I can hear the frogs croaking in the pond, the robins hopping  in search for a meal, and a mate, on the lawn outside my condo.  Most importantly of course the first cries of ” Let’s Play Ball”.

One of the best descriptions of Spring I have read is:

in Just-

by E. E. Cummings

in Just-
spring          when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles          far          and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it’s
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far          and             wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it’s
spring
and

         the

                  goat-footed

balloonMan          whistles
far
and
wee
