After reviewing all the world events looking for something to post about, and finding nothing that inspires me, stock market is down, politicians fighting in Washington, which actress is too heavy or too thin or has fake boobs, I found one thing that could inspire me – Cupcakes (Fairycakes to the Brits).

Cookie Monster Cupcake
From Wikipedia – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupcake
In the early 19th century, there were two different uses for the name “cup cake” or “cupcake”. In previous centuries, before muffin tins were widely available, the cakes were often baked in individual pottery cups, ramekins, or molds and took their name from the cups they were baked in. This is the use of the name that has persisted, and the name of “cupcake” is now given to any small cake that is about the size of a teacup. The name “fairy cake” is a fanciful description of its size, which would be appropriate for a party of diminutive fairies to share.
The oldest cupcake recipe from 1796:
“A light Cake to bake in small cups.
Half a pound sugar, half a pound butter, rubbed into two pounds flour, one glass wine, one do. [glass] Rosewater, two do.[glass] Emptins, a nutmeg, cinnamon and currants.”
—American Cookery, Amelia Simmons, 2nd edition (p. 48)
The best cupcake blog appears to be “All Things Cupcake”, http://www.allthingscupcake.com/ , which has a contest running now where you can win a “Julius The Monkey + Cupcake” watch:

They also have a page devoted to cupcake tattoos:

When was the last time you had a cupcake?
I bought some cupcakes from a local bakery yesterday.
Any memorable cupcake moments from the past?
The best moments I can remember as a child were spent in my grandmothers kitchen watching her prepare food, which of course included cupcakes.

Ric, apart from the fact I don’t like needles, and have no desire to desecrate my body, if I did get a tatto a “Cookie Monster Cupcake” might look cool. Either that or “Death Head Hells Angel”.

Papa you have enough sweetness already with Mama.
I do think a cupcake tattoo might look good on you.
If there is a cupcake recipe in the Bible I might start reading it again.

If cakes inspire you check out http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/
It’s all PROFESSIONAL cakes that go terribly wrong. And I think once a week they have very cool cakes. But the descriptions are just too funny.
