Chelsea Morning - Joni Mitchell
Excerpt from lyrics:
“Woke up, it was a chelsea morning, and the first thing that I knew
There was milk and toast and honey and a bowl of oranges, too
And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses
Oh, wont you stay
Well put on the day
And well talk in present tenses”
Helpless - Neil Young
Excerpts from Helpless:
“Blue, blue windows behind the stars
Yellow moon on the rise
Big birds flying across the sky
Throwing shadows on our eyes”
You’ve Got A Friend - James Taylor
From You’ve Got A Friend:
“When youre down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
Ill come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Youve got a friend.”

Indian Lake Papa
Had a friend Bob all through school - we even joined the Air Force together - 1961. After basic training we split different directions - have not seen each other since. He went out west and we just could not connect.

I moved every year up until 9th grade. So i never stayed in a school or neighborhood long enough to make real close friends.
So i listened to the radio and read all the time. I rarely went out to play.
hmmmm. sad now that i think about it.
but now…my cup runneth over with priceless friendships!

Papa, Tam, Mandy and Deb, four friends I would never have know if it wasn’t for the Internet.
I only had a few childhood friends, Tam none. Just think of all the lonely people in the world, young and old, who, for one reason or another, have difficulty meeting and making friends. Think of how easy it is to meet people in cyber space, to reconnect with old friends. How easy to find people with the same interest as we do, be it science, religion, baseball or gossip. We do need to walk out the front door and meet flesh and blood people but the Internet can provide that first lesson in how to socialize.
The Internet is my great hope for the people of the world to connect with each other, see how much we have in common, to get past our differences.

LOVE James Taylors “You’ve got a friend”
I just posted a song from one of my favorite singers….Jennifer Knapp. I kind of think you might like her voice. I thought of you on a few of her songs b/c it reminded of some Natalie Merchant stuff you have posted.
I’d love to hang with you Ed and listen to music for a day!

I am so sorry about your friend Ed.
Childhood friends are priceless. I still keep in touch with mine….she is having her first baby this summer.
I might name our new puppy after your Buttons… I like that! I’ll have to see if it passes the “man of the house” test though.
HA!

Brandy, I am sure Buttons would be honored. He was a mutt, I have no idea what mixture. Got him for at the “dog pound”, now they are called animal shelters.
My father got him of me after my grandmother died, when I was nine. Buttons lived 14 years. He was blind the last year he lived but he still got around pretty well.
